When it rains, it pours
Have you ever had a really bad day (or perhaps you've had consecutive bad days)? I have...these past few days. You think that after one day, it couldn't get any worse...but it does. It's such a depressing thing to have to go through because you can barely see the light at the end of the tunnel. Well, at least for me. However, because I have a personal relationship with God, I know that all this will pass and that everything that I go through will not go void.
It's so easy to throw myself a pity party, but I know that it won't do me any good if I sulk and cry about it rather than making an effort to overcome the challenges. I tend to focus on the negative instead of the positives...initially. But the greatest thing about God is that He is constantly pursuing us to give us hope for a brighter day. One of my favorite verses I like to refer to is Jeremiah 29:11, which says "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I love this verse because it's a reminder to me that God is bigger than my problems, that there is nothing too great for Him to handle. So, at the moment I may feel frustrated or confused, yet God tells me that I have nothing to worry about since He holds everything together.
Now, something to understand is that God just doesn't make this happen to everyone. Only those who are called His children. Jeremiah 29:13 puts it simply, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." When we seek God, we find Him and we then belong to Him. Everything we go through, whether good or bad, will be used to build up our character and reveal to us more of who God is.
