Faith like Potatoes

Yesterday I watched this movie titled, Faith like Potatoes. I've seen the DVD in the Family Christian Bookstore and according to Netflix, it was rated 4/5.

The synopsis from Sony Pictures states that:
...this inspiring film tells the story of Angus Buchan, a South African farmer who suffers a series of insurmountable losses, but through an unlikely friendship with his Zulu farmhand and Divine interventions, discovers the key to handling himself and learning to accept others lies in his unwavering belief in the power of prayer.
The thing about the movie [and this is a SPOILER if you're planning to watch it] is that this man is clearly a maize (fancy way of saying 'corn') and cattle farmer. At some point, he felt that God is telling him to plant potatoes, even though the whole country is undergoing this heavy drought known as, El Niño. And the thing about potatoes is that they grow underground so you can't always see them growing. You really need faith in timing the harvest. So anyways, the man had faith in God that even though there was a drought, making it impossible to grow anything underground, he was still going to grow potatoes. Surely enough, on the day he plans to unearth the potatoes, his worker, Simeon, pulls out a handful of giant potatoes from underneath the dry ground. It was miraculous, incredible, and based off a true story!!

I love reading/hearing about true stories of the way that God is working, especially in what appears to be impossible situations. It shows God's great power that goes beyond human limitations--beyond logic and reason. It shows that God works in very real ways. Knowing this gives me hope. I'm (we're) just finite beings with a beginning and an end. God is eternal, transcending time and space. I have faith in God, that He will do what He says He'll do. This means...that when I lose hope, when I can't seem to see the light at the end of the tunnel, God is there to see me through my times of helplessness, hopelessness, worthlessness, loneliness, temptations and trials.
No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what other have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; He'll never let you be pushed past your limit; He'll always be there to help you come through it. -1 Cor. 10:13
