Father-Daughter Bonding :]

Ever since I watched, Courageous, I have found a greater appreciation for my dad. I was really inspired by the movie to go on this "Father-Daughter Date" because we've never done anything like it before. I'm not as open with my dad as I am with my mom, so this was going to be something new...for the both of us.

Well, I'm so thankful to God for blessing me with the dad that I have. He might not fit the mold of a "perfect father" but I know he's trying. He has flaws and he makes mistakes, which make him perfectly human; yet, for my siblings and I, he makes for a real good role model to learn and grow from. It just amazes me how much of a difference he's changed since I was much younger. One of these significant differences I notice is his heart for the Lord. For the past 2/3 years, he's been pretty consistent in reading the whole bible for a year. I admire his diligence because he inspires me to want to be the same way, too!

So our date. I won't get into specifics about that but I honestly felt like I could open up with dad a lot more. Usually, I won't tell my dad directly what's on my mind...mainly because I'd feel very awkward about it. He ends up finding about it from mom anyway, I tell myself. What I've discovered lately, however, was that by connecting with him on a heart-to-heart level we can learn to trust each other with all sincerity. Through that, I would be able to trust that the wisdom and discipline he offers is meant for my benefit--for guidance and a purposeful direction in this life.  Likewise, our genuineness and authenticity towards each other would allow him to trust that my decisions are a true reflection of a child who honors their parent.

It's taken me years to realize how amazing he is; but I'm so glad it's now rather than later.

Having lunch at one of my favorite restaurants!
Thai food is so good!
