My Beloved

This morning I had my date with God. :]
It was a much needed quality time alone with Him at my quiet spot. I love having these special moments with Him because it's through my dates that He reminds me how much He truly loves me. It's refreshing and invigorating!

To get me in the right mindset for our date, I meditated on 2 songs by Kari Jobe: My Beloved & Healer. I put them on repeat a couple times but it only took the first song to play a second time to break me and bring me to my knees (I was literally crying my eyes out, lol). To understand the effectiveness of the song, please read the lyrics (phrase by phrase) and meditate/reflect on them for a moment.

My Beloved
You're My Beloved
You're My Bride
To sing over you is My delight
Come away with Me My love

You're Beautiful to Me
So beautiful to Me

Under My mercy
Come and wait
Till we are standing face to face
I see no stain on you
My child

You're Beautiful to Me
So Beautiful to Me

I sing over you My song of peace
Cast all your care down at My feet
Come and find your rest in Me

I'll breathe My life inside of you
I'll bear you up on eagle's wings
And hide you in the shadow of My strength
I'll take you to My quiet waters
I'll restore your soul
Come rest in Me and be made whole

You're My beloved
You're My Bride
To sing over you is my delight
Come away with me my love

He calls me His beloved. According to dictionary.com, the word beloved is described as one who is "greatly loved; dear to the heart." Would it be possible for the God of the universe and all created things to call me His beloved? Dear to His heart? There is something so profound in that identity. When we recognize and own that truth, there is nothing in the world that could hold us back!

He calls me beautiful. Has anyone ever called you beautiful? I'm blessed to have an earthly father who tells my mom, my sister and I that we're beautiful almost every day. My dad's affirmation to me builds up my self esteem. My heavenly Father's affirmation differs in that it has an unconditional lasting value in it. Through Jesus' death and resurrection, it has brought complete restoration between man & God. He sees "no stain in us." So no matter how much we mess up, no matter how we (or others) view ourselves, He makes us new and more beautiful each day. In a world where appearance and performance is everything, He causes us to rest in His peace knowing that His is more pleased when we simply obey.

Now you see why I cherish my dates with God?! :]
He is so good.
