Timing (and faith) is everything!

God moves and works in supernatural ways—ways that are beyond human comprehension. He doesn't function according to our time table. Sometimes we think that God isn't answering our prayers or He's delaying His promises indefinitely...but did you know that His timing is impeccable?

I remember hearing from a pastor give a brief talk about the way God sets life in order since the dawn of time. He made references to a passage in Mark 11 where it mentions the young donkey Jesus rode on and the fig tree Jesus cursed. I won't get into the specific details of their meaning and such, but I want you to notice something. God is a God of order, working out distinct details of every little thing. Nothing is randomized. When God formed the earth and set life in motion, He already knew that on that particular day, before Jesus was going to arrive in Jerusalem, in a village nearby the disciples will find a young donkey tied there and has never been ridden on. The same is true about the fig tree. Since the start of creation plants and trees have come and go; but as God had planned it perfectly, it would happen that this fig tree would grow in 'full leaf' and not bear any fruit as Jesus passed so he cursed it. When Jesus and his disciples came back again from Jerusalem, they came back to the place where the fig tree was and saw that it had withered and died. This was to show by whose authority Jesus curses that tree. I believe this was also done to show that when we pray according to God's will, there will be no opposition or obstacles against His purposes.

So consider the donkey and the fig tree. That donkey will go down in history as the very donkey that Jesus rode on as he made his triumphant procession into Jerusalem. And that fig tree will go down in history as the very fig tree Jesus cursed so it's purpose would have spiritual relevance and implications (a living parable) to the circumstance of the temple at that time, and continuing it's significance to our current situations today! *phew* This then was also when Jesus had said to 'have faith in God':
"I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, 'May you be lifted up and thrown to the sea,' and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours." [Mark 11:23-24, NLT]
By whose authority do we pray in faith? God. And who cares about the tiny insignificant details of our lives? God. He never ceases to amaze me when my circumstances are evidence of His faithfulness. When our hearts are aligned with God's heart, I have confidence that He can do far more than I could ever think of!

I look forward to the surprises God reveals where I get to recognize the opportunity He displays His promises and sovereignty over all impossible situations.
"God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it by not pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us." [Ephesians 3:20, Message]
